Still Searching….

Well I started to look for a Preschool Teacher job yesterday. No luck for me. There are only two places so far that I would consider working for. One is not hiring at the moment, and the other one has a position open with an age group that I am not interested in.

Plus I was talking to one of the directors of the center, and they told me that Idaho is ranked number 49th in dealing with preschool centers. So great, Idaho bascially has the worst preschools in the nation. And the pay isnt good either up here for teachers. That really bums me out cos I really enjoy working with children and I loved my job back in California, so I am praying that I will find a center out here that has somewhat of the same curriculum going on or at least lets me prepare my own lesson plans.

I think it’s wonderful that you love working with children. It is great that you know what you want to do. Rude people are jeaous cause they don’t know what they want. Keep looking for that job, it will show up!

I know what you mean carrie, when I moved out here to Indiana I couldnt find the schools I wanted to work in at first. But before I moved I had noticed the pay differences… the highest pay is at HeadStart Preschools, its a government funded school for low income families, very good pay for teachers. Also Kindercare is a good branch of companies but very selfish in benifits. I worked at both places for 4-6 yrs off and on. So when I moved here I looked it up in the phone books and online for locations from mapquest. Kindercare wasnt in my area which wasnt my first choice anyhow. But Headstart was my first choice but it took me awhile to find out the actual name since its a differnt branch name. In california they called it Neighborhood House Association of HeadStart… (big name/big title), here they call it something else but now I cant think of actual spelling, just look up HeadStart preschool in your yellowpages, see if you see it or online.

If I was you I’d look into HeadStart since its the most reliable school for good pay. You’d have to work your way up to through the company but you can be teacher when the job comes up the parents are very involved also. I enjoyed the company very much, I had sami attend.

I know about the whole ranking school system as well, I wish that our district had more school choices, we only have 1 school choice for kindergarden and its not ranked high. Its hard to decide what is right for your child as well.

E-mail me if you have anymore concern’s or if I was any help to your searchings.

I was looking at applying for a Head Start center, but I decided against it. And I was hoping to find a Childtime (which is who I worked for in CA) or even a Kindercare, but they dont have any out here. But yea the pay decrease really stinks out here.
I had an interview today with Kidz Zone, and they want me to come in next week part time to see if i work out… but we will see what happens.
